Paddling

Hundreds of small inland lakes, lazy rivers, fast rivers and even Lake Superior offer some great opportunities to see the area from a different perspective.  The area offers a combination of both flat water and white water opportunities as well as river and sea kayaking.

Lake Superior Water Trail

The Lake Superior Water Trail encircles the greatest expanse of freshwater on Earth. Part of this ancient water route extends 1000 km (600 miles) along the Canadian coastline of Lake Superior between Gros Cap Marina Park on Whitefish Bay and Fisherman's Park on Thunder Bay. The water trail is a significant link in the Trans Canada Trail, a 24 000 km (15 000 mile) trail system from ocean to ocean to ocean.

Nipigon Marina is an access point along the Lake Superior Water Trail.   Our access point is located at the southern tip of the marina, and includes an accessible water entry system (EZ Dock), a composting toilet, picnic and tenting areas, and signage panels that include local interpretation, maps and safety information.  The access point is also steps away from the Nipigon River Recreation Trail head.
