Recycling is Back!

July 28

It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3!! The Nipigon Eco-Team (formerly Nipigon Recycles Committee) is pleased to announce that Nipigon’s new recycling program is up and running! ONLY fibre and cardboard will be recycled through this program.

Fibre includes fine paper, newspaper, magazines, flyers, envelops, books, boxboard (cereal boxes), and egg cartons. Boxes/envelopes with plastic windows are acceptable. All of these items MUST be in a CLEAR or BLUE bag, or neatly stacked in a closed cardboard box.

Cardboard includes corrugated cardboard, flattened and bundled nearly, not heavier than 40 lbs per bundle. Clean pizza boxes are acceptable.

The Nipigon Recycling Depot is located at the old curling club site (also known as the old lumber yard) on First St. Between the fourway stop and the rail tracks.

Recyclables can be dropped off ONLY during the depot’s hours of operation which are Wednesdays 3pm-6pm and Saturdays 10 am-1 pm.

Businesses, schools, and organizations may participate, however they will need to arrange their own volunteers or staff to pick up and drop off the recyclable items. The Nipigon Eco-Team can facilitate this by connecting volunteers to organizations and businesses.

If you have any questions about the program or would like to join the Nipigon Eco-Team contact Suzanne Kukko at edo@nipigon.net or call 887-3135 ext 26.
